Custom Mailboxes

Custom Mailboxes in Morges

Between the lake and the vineyards, Morges combines historic buildings with new developments. We manufacture and install mailboxes that comply with postal standards throughout the district, from the old town to the new areas of Morges-Est.

Two Morges, Two Requirements

Along the Grand-Rue and around the castle, the old buildings impose strong aesthetic constraints: protected facades, discreet colours, and a ban on visible perforations. An overly conspicuous mailbox or a standard white aluminium one would immediately clash. Conversely, recent developments in Morges-Est, Préverenges, and Tolochenaz require clean, durable, and compliant mailbox units from delivery.

In both cases, custom-made solutions allow us to respect both the character of the location and postal standards, something a catalogue product cannot achieve. We operate throughout the Morges district, from the lakeside to the vineyard communes, for individual manufacturing and installation by our teams.

Lakeside: Consider Stainless Steel

The proximity to Lake Geneva exposes mailboxes to humidity and sea spray. A cheap galvanised mailbox will rust in a few seasons, especially on the quay side or directly facing the lake. For Morges and its region, we often recommend brushed stainless steel or powder-coated aluminium, which are more durable over time. We adapt this choice to each location during the survey, considering exposure, orientation, and distance from the water.

Protected Homes & Compliant Placement

When horizontal placement is impossible due to architectural or heritage reasons, a common occurrence in old Morges, the standard allows for certain exceptions: vertical mailboxes, and derogations provided for in Art. 75 of the Postal Ordinance. However, the fundamentals remain: two compartments (letters 10 × 25 × 35.5 cm, slot 25 × 2.5 cm, and parcel 15 × 25 × 35.5 cm) and a location freely accessible from the street. Otherwise, La Poste may suspend delivery after a warning (Art. 31 para. 2 let. c). We are familiar with these cases and find the compliant solution adapted to your property.

FAQ

What material should I choose near the lake?

Stainless steel or powder-coated aluminium: more resistant to humidity and sea spray than galvanised. The choice is refined during the survey based on exposure.

My house is in the protected old town, is that a problem?

No. For protected buildings, the standard allows for exceptions (vertical mailboxes, derogations under Art. 75 OPO). We find a compliant solution adapted to the heritage.
