Should the entire mailbox be replaced, or can it be renovated?
It all depends on the condition. A lock, flap, or label can be replaced if the structure and dimensions are already compliant. However, a mailbox without a deposit compartment, with insufficient dimensions, or too corroded must be replaced with a compliant model. We evaluate the existing setup during the assessment and propose the most economical option.
Can a mailbox be replaced with existing dimensions?
Yes, this is often the case. For an apartment building cluster, we frequently manufacture a replacement based on the dimensions of the old location, which avoids major construction work and speeds up installation. The new model, of course, remains compliant with current postal standards.
Must a replacement be compliant with current standards?
Yes. Even if the old mailbox benefited from an acquired status, any replacement must comply with current postal standards: two compartments, minimum dimensions (letters 10 × 25 × 35.5 cm, deposit 15 × 25 × 35.5 cm, slot 25 × 2.5 cm) and compliant location (OPO art. 73-75).
Who pays for the replacement in an apartment building?
The property owner, at their own expense (OPO art. 73). The tenant pays nothing. For property management companies, we offer a park audit and coordinated replacement, with a sliding scale tariff for multiple buildings.
